Nawel Rafik-Elmrini
Nawel Rafik-Elmrini is an Intellectual Property Lawyer. Since 2008, she has also been Deputy Mayor of the City of Strasbourg in charge of European and international Affairs and Human Rights. Truly convinced of the indispensable role that European cities have to play in drawing up public policies based on a spirit of solidarity and responsibility, she strongly supported the creation in October 2015 of a European cities solidarity network, together with the partner cities of Catania (Sicily) and Rovereto. After more than one year of exchanges, the network published in November 2016 a vade-mecum focusing on the very practical issues European cities have to deal with when hosting newly arrived refugees. As 1st Vice- Chair of the Current Affairs Committee of the Congress of the Council of Europe, Nawel Rafik-Elmrini is fully involved in the realisation of the institution’s next report on this issue.
